Personal Branding Strategies by Ky Joesph

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:

Do you believe that YOU are the business?
Well, YOU ARE! And when you start seeing it that way and living it that way, is when you will see things begin to really blossom!

5 KEY ELEMENTS THAT WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH:

  1. Create brand equity in YOUR name (BUILD A REPUTATION)
  2. Build a large network that will breed fans
  3. Create a clientele
  4. Do one specific thing every week that promotes YOU
  5. Focus on selling your product/service... set a plan to do ONE big thing every month to sell

INITIAL PERSONAL BRANDING QUESTIONS:

  1. Would you say that the brand of the business is successful?
  2. What is your professional goal?
  3. What does success mean to you?
  4. What do you want to be known for?
  5. What is your claim to fame? Biggest accomplishment in this field
  6. What makes you unique?
  7. Where does the name for your business come from? Do you have a name..?
  8. In casual conversation with a stranger or at a cocktail party, do you promote your business by telling people about it...?
  9. Do you display your product/service REGULARLY?
  10. Do you have a graphics/logo package for YOURSELF or YOUR WORK...?
  11. Do you have an insert piece you put into the packaging of any product/service you sell...? Such as a card or story that describes any creative inspirations or a little bio on the creator/artist (YOU)..?

TIPS TO CREATE YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING:

  1. Branding the product you sell : make your work/product/service have something unique about it that is YOUR signature... where people can look and say "That is a product!”
  2. Networking –Endorsements – Testimonials of you and your product
  3. Create a 10second elevator speech about you and what you do.
  4. YOUR WEBSITE IS YOUR RESUME AND YOUR CATALOGUE:
  5. WIN AWARDS……and let everyone know it.

BECOME A FLAUNTREPRENEUR
Self-promotion seems to be the hardest thing for creative people to do..!

  1. Write an article about you and what you do. It has to have an engaging hook…
  2. Contact newspaper columnists, magazine editors, Trade publications, blog sites,etc...anything in your own industry
  3. Try to get your own column. This will brand you as THE EXPERT … and give you the platform you need. Again it needs a hook. The column name needs to be conducive to the publication.

HOW TO GET TO HARD-TO REACH INFLUENCES:

  1. Be unique and stand out
  2. Be featured in a national magazine. Send a story, eventually it will be used.
  3. Always follow up with successes you have achieved/awards you have won etc
  4. Be relatable: do you share the same charity? Do you have a similar story (did you both attend the same school, were you both fat at one time, did you both overcome a personal hurdle? (EMOTION SELLS)
WIN AWARDS and let EVERYONE know it!
